winter in Slovenia workshop

Posted by Marko Trebušak 4.2.2015 @ 06:34
Together with my good friend Guy Edwardes, we just finished our twelfth in a row winter workshop in Slovenia. The weather was rather mild and mostly without snow. But in all those years we gather a long list of locations, so we were able to get decent amount of good images, although they look more like late autumn than winter.

The week before workshop was quite cold and we still had some snow laying in the lowlands, but when workshop aproaches all that white stuff melted away. For more winterish feeling we hiked the mountain just across the Austrian border, and it was well worth it. Not just for the photos. The hut at the top have a very good apple strudel. But to be honest, after an hour and a half every decent strudel becomes a really good one.

Luckily for us, the temperature in Alpine valleys was low enough for some nice ice patterns to develop. We spend quite some time with this wall  of ice.

One morning we were abble to photograph very low laying mist, that together with haze helped to form layers in the landscape

Since most of the Slovenian ladscape show bare branches look, we explored some new locations. In this gorge views were obstructed with fallen trees from ice storms of previous winter, but it still show the potential

We also discovered a new set of statues on the coast side:

All in all I still think it was an enjoyable workshop. Looking through the window, it looks like snow just waited for our workshop to finish. Our next years workshop will be offered to those who expressed interest, so it's still not too late, if you would like to join us.
