Nature and landscape photography
This year I decided to set up two bird feeders at the forest edge, about a mile from the house. Since I'm sure I'll not be abble to maintain them every day, I decided to set up a classic "house" type with a tube with165mm diameter and about a meter leinght to contain the sunflower seeds. This way I expect that I'll only need to visit a feeder once a week. The other feeder is for suet. Now I need to wait till birds disover the food. In this time, I hope that new reflector and radio trigger for my Einstein strobe will arrive. In the mean time, here are a couple of photos from last season...
I updated the dates for next year's workshops. There is still some place on June and second Autumn workshops. If you would like to join me, please don't hesistate to send me a mail.
It's just amaizing, what can happen in one week during Autumn. Colours changed considerably from previous workshop. Larches were in full display, while beech trees turned to orange-brown. We had all (mre or less) sunshine workshop, and manage to find even a morning mist on Lake Bled, which isn't all that common. After 1500km of driving, I was quite tired, but I think, that we magage to get some memorable photos.
First autumn workshop went really well. It was "raining cats and dogs" the first day, and that was enough to fill up the rivers and streams in Soča Valley. After that we had perfect weather for landscape photography: partly cloudy with motning mist.
Summer was long and bussy. I was abble to make some order on my picture hard drive, and I also made decent amount pf Palladiotye photos for Arne Hodalič, a photo editor of Slovenian branch of National Geographic magazine. I also have a place left for autumn workshop 18th to 22nd October. If you are interested, please contact me, and I'll send you details.
This year House Martins were late to start nesting due to late snow fall. I actually remember seeing them for the first ime this year while driving home through heawy snow storm.
May and June are usually associated with wild flowers. And I follow this description. Firstly because leaving in rural Slovenia, I have plenty of opportunities to work with wild flowers, and secondly because having a workshop in the end of June, I had few new things in mind, that I would like to test.
First I must appologise for not being abble to daa anything to my Diary page since January. But I was stuck in office and could only observe what was one of the best winters since I remember. But now it's Spring in the air, and with longer days I was finally abble to photograph a white snakehead I was searching for for few years! Cyincally as it is, I found five or six of them in a meadow few hundred yards from the one I usually photograph this flowers.
We finished workshop in rain. Yesterday we drove all the way to coast side and photographed Piran in rain, which means that flood lighted buildings reflected in puddles in the Tartini squere. Highlight of the workshop was sunny Saturday, when we were out almost non-stop the whole day.
Todaj we started winter workshop in sunshine. But it was snowing for last couple of days and in the wevening it's snowing again. We photographed snow covered spriuce trees in the evening. We lit them with the torch and resulting warm/cold contrast is quite nice.
